EAA Learn to Fly Day - May 15th, 2010

I am really looking forward to this event.  I can't wait.  I've already requested my seminar materials.

International Learn to Fly Day is coming up fast! When you have your plan in place, don't forget to submit it to the EAA Calendar of Events. We've even added a special tag for Learn to Fly Day, so everyone will know that your May 15 event is part of the celebration.

Spend a Day at Gulf Coast’s Friendliest Airport! We encourage pilots to fly-in and bring a friend interested in aviation.

The day's events include: a Spot landing competition, Flour bomb competition, Vintage aircraft, Static aircraft displays, Cessna aircraft displays and Your Boarding Pass into History. Excitement is building for International Learn to Fly Day!

Whether you are a pilot, a flight instructor, or aviation enthusiast, you can participate in International Learn to Fly Day:

• - Take someone flying
• - Invite someone to an EAA Chapter meeting
• - Take a friend or neighbor to the airport

Thanks for joining us at last night’s webinar on International Learn to Fly Day.  Toward the end of the session, Ron asked for details on some of the events that are already being planned.

Here’s just a sample of what we received:

EAA Chapter 252 will hold a cook out and orientation flights at the Kermit Weeks hangar in Oshkosh

EAA Chapter 1300 in the Las Vegas area is planning an open house at Henderson airport.

EAA Chapter 186, Northern Virginia will be hosting a SFRA (Special Flight Rules Area) training day.

EAA Chapter 287 planning an Open House @ KOBI with introductory rides, static aircraft display and a BBQ.

EAA Chapter 643, Pittstown, NJ, is holding a career and learn to fly event with representatives from educational institutions as well as flight schools and aircraft manufacturers.  Orientation rides, too.

As you can see there is quite a variety of ways EAA Chapters are already getting involved.

Cessna Aircraft Company announced at Sun 'n Fun yesterday (April 13) that they will be partnering with Cessna Pilot Center (CPC) to celebrate EAA’s International Learn to Fly Day May 15.

Anyone who visits and registers with a domestic CPC on May 15 will be eligible for two drawings. First prize is a $10,000 flight training credit at a CPC; second prize is a $5,000 flight training credit at a CPC. In addition, participating CPCs around the U.S. will hold local drawings for a free Cessna Sport/Private kit and their first flight lesson.
