Incidents like this do not improve the reputation of General Aviation.  This guy is stupid!

I don't often say this, but I think a suspension, for a long time, would be a good start.  If the pilot cops an attitude with the FAA, a revocation would be just fine with me.

We got enough troubles without pinheads like this!

Where do these idiots come from? I have one suggestion....revocation.
Stop him now before he does permanent damage or kills someone.
Just stop and think, Do you want to share the traffic pattern with this guy? I'm sorry but words like "prudent, cautious and vigilant" just don't come to mind here.
What would Doctor Phil say? What the hell were you thinkin'??

People like that usually become a statistic sooner or later but it's responsible people like ourselves that take the heat from the general public for bad behavior by unsafe pilots.

Maybe he got that low because he was already high on something else.

Adam,

The video was removed before I had a chance to view it!  A local pilots web forum that I visit regularly, www.dfwpilots.com, has a really good picture of this guy on a pass over the beach road.  You can see the white centerline in his polished spinner and if you look closely, his passenger is taking pictures of the event!  It's listed under "Darwin Candidates".

I'd love to see the video if you could forward it to me at michaelreddick@yahoo.com

This is a fine example of too much money (if he actually owns the plane) and not enough brains!

Seems to me the pilot knew someone from the jeep group or saw the group and decided to give then a thrill.  One person's  thrill can be another person's terror.  Aside from what seems to be an illegal action on the part of the pilot, it makes no sense to take such risk and as a trained pilot he has to understand the risk physically, legally and emotionally.  I am sure no one on the ground thought they were meeting to be part of this guy's private air show.  I agree with others, a move that sets back all the great work of EAA , AOPA and all GA advocates.

John

It is obvious this guy or gal has more guts than brains and needs discipline.  This is however another obvious media blitz to persecute and create buzz.  Don't be too swift to judge.  As we line up in the firing squad, we may want to ask the guy in person what and why before pulling triggers.  I don't believe the media message(s) (EAA media not included) when it comes to reporting GA even when it is full motion video.

This behavior is obviously not a plus for sport aviation or aviation in general. All comments posted so far rightly reflect this perspective and nobody condones this type of behavior. But hear Scott as he says: "Dont be too swwift to judge". The video certainly does not identify the aircraft positively (N #), and the witnesses "indentifying the aircraft" by means of the photo on the laptop is a cheap joke at best. I'd be willing to bet that you show photos of that aircraft and of 20 other similar aircraft to 50 different people in isolation from each other and you would get positive identifications of at least 30 different aircraft. And you all know why. That pilot was not the smartest thing flying that day, but good luck finding the true culprit on thbs of what we see here.

Whats really bad is it's on video and on the news. People who don't fly see stuff like this and become one sided even if it's false or made-up. Then, when laws are being passed to further restrict an already restricted freedom, the average guy could care less because were just a bunch of crazy people building, flying airplanes, and buzzing innocent people.

Wow, YouTube has several videos of this guy.  Do a freeze-frame, like the Feds did, and you can clearly see the N number.  In one video, right at the start, you hear a female voice say "here he comes again, somebody throw a rock at him!"  Mr. Kirbow is in a deep, deep bowl of kimchee!
