Current window shades on airliners work pretty well blocking out the sun; but they also block the view. As Boeing builds hype for its new aircraft in advance of its certification and launch into commercial service, the company released this video about window shades that can be darkened while still having the option to see through to the outside.

dont know about the test facility but ive seen the systems onboard the plane and how they work. Those windows are working really well. the only problem is that they have a delay on them so the change isnt instantanious, ya lose a little of the fun with the windows
