If you're an EAA member and want to see one of your photos in
EAA Sport Aviation magazine, post it here. It's as easy as that. (As long as we select yours as the winner, of course, but that's just the fine print ...)
As before, here's how it all works:
- First, you’ll take a great photo, one that evokes the spirit of aviation. Feel free to include a caption or any other notes about the setting, subject matter, etc. The "spirit of aviation" is a broad definition - show us pictures OF aircraft, pictures taken FROM aircraft, people thinking ABOUT aircraft ... well, as long as it's obvious ... anyway, you get the idea.
- Then, you’ll reply to this thread and embed the picture in your post. (We prefer it if you include just one picture per post.) Note: to embed a picture, click the camera button on the toolbar to find and upload the file ....
- As our deadline approaches, the photo submissions will be reviewed by the editorial team (and me), meeting ina secure and undisclosed location, and we will choose a winner to be published in the magazine (with full and appropriate credit, naturally.)
- We’ll contact the photographer directly to arrange for their submission of a print-quality version of the winning photo (see below.) We’ll also provide the basic legalese at that point to ensure that we have the rights to publish the photo.
There are a few things to point out:
- The photo contest is open to all members of EAA.
- Note that, above, we said you’ll take the photo – submissions must be made by the original photographer.
- While we will be choosing the winners ourselves, we are, in fact, human beings, and certainly wouldn’t ignore a picture if it had an unusually high “thumbs-up” count or a lot of positive comments here in the forum.
- Photos must be posted here to be considered – email submissions will not be accepted.
- In addition, the pictures you post here will be automatically resized for web viewing, which means they won’t be of a high-enough resolution for print. So, in order for your picture to be considered for publication, you must be able to provide a high resolution print-ready version on request.
- This means that the original should ideally be 8 Megapixels (~3264 x 2448) or higher.
Enter as many pictures as you like – the more the merrier! (Though, again, we prefer you post each picture separately.)
NOTE:
The deadline for submissions to the November, 2010 issue is
September 15th, 2010.

Another T-6 sold by Courtesy Aircraft. This T-6G, N9067Z, is being flown to its new home at Oakland County International Airport in Michigan by Brian VanWagnon. The photograph was taken near Jackson, Michigan from one of only three flying G21G Turbine Geese piloted by Bob Redner. Where's the spirit of aviation? Mr. Redner now owns both of the beutiful birds...

Army Wings & Wheels 2009
Poplar Grove Vintage Wings & Wheels Museum - Poplar Grove Airport
Poplar Grove, IL
Waiting for the o.k. to take-off during the afternoon vehicle demo. Me in the back seat of the 1942 Aeronca L-3C ASN 43-1691 "Aunt Bessie" with pilot Rob. Friend and fellow living historian, Jackie is across the way in the Piper L-4 with pilot Steve. Our second plane ride of the day; I had previously been up in the L-4 and Jackie was in "Aunt Bessie." Jackie even got to fly "Aunt Bessie" for a bit. Despite the rain and cold, it was a fun event!
Camera: Apple iPhone 3G (which probably doesn't meet your minimum resolution requirements, however it is one of my favorite photos so I thought I would share anyway.)
