Hello everyone i am 17 years old and happily a pilot in SE WI. Its summertime now and that means i'm going to be flying quite a bit. My question goes out for mostly Wisconsin pilots. I want to fly to some interesting airports in Wisconsin. For example ones with interesting location and approaches. So let me know of some interesting airports like this and i'm sure ill fly there and share the photos/videos with you all.

I just flew to the Wild Rose fly-in last week and It was a great flight I loved the landing with the tress on both sides and the bend in the runway. it made for a fun landing.

Well thanks in advance and happy flying!

Agree with Greg... Brodhead is great.  The weekend he speaks of (July 22-23) is the Pietenpol/Hatz Fly-In weekend.

Alec,

I don't know if it qualifies as an interesting location / approaches, etc. but the EAA chapter UL41 is having a donut day / fly in  meet the neighbors day on Saturday June 25th at Brennand Field C79 in Neenah.

Fly up to Door County and check out Sturgeon Bay (KSUE), Washington Island is a great grass strip, and Ephraim / Fish Creek is a great summer destination.

I would highly recommend Ephraim (3D2), when you land you can either take the complimentary bikes to trail ride all day or the airport will call one of the local dining establishments and they will come pick you up and take you back afterwards.

Fly up the Bay of Green Bay all the way to Washington / Rock Island and then return home via Lake Michigan shoreline. On a calm weekend it isn't uncommon to see shipwrecks and lots of Kayaks on the Lake side.

Any questions, feel free to look me up....

Hi Alec,

I checked out your profile so I'm guessing that you have flown into Janesville, (KJVL), it has a handy restaurant overlooking the ramp.  Sunday mornings usually bring in a bunch of interesting aircraft.  Also Reedsburg (C35), is a short hop with several food places across the street from the aircraft ramp.  There are lots of fun airports in SE Wis, Watertown a great EAA chapter, Dodge Co. nice facility and great management.  Manitowoc Co. also well run, and free cookies.  I will second all the positive comments on Door Co., Wisconsin's answer to Cape Cod.  Capitol in Brookfield  has a Culver's within walking distance, and a nice fly-in in early August after OSH.  Oh ya, don't forget OSHKOSH!

Happy Flying!

Joe

Madeline Island (4R5) is fun. A pretty area over the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior.

Sheboygan has a great restaurant on the field. Also, don't forget Lonerock! Definately a great destination with some great views of the Wisconsin River and Devils Lake nearby. Anywhere along the Mississippi River will be very scenic and worth the visit.

Prairie De Chein (PDC) is nice, in the past Cabelas will pay for a cab ride to their store. Adams co airport is a great fuel stop, as is Clintonville(CLI). I've heard great things about Mineral Point. It's a little far but you have Mackinaw Island up near the bridge in the U.P..  I still have some exploring to do myself.
