Will be camping at Camp Scholler again this year.  Have always packed my bike for transportation .... now I am trying to see if I have enough room in my pick up for my kayak too!!           biggrin

See you Sunday afternoon!

Ron

My husband and I are flight line junkies and look forward to arriving each year on Sunday to watch the mass arrivals.  With the grounds situation we're wondering if our presence will hamper efforts to deal with the increased air traffic and associated parking issues.  We'd hate to be in the way of the incredible job all the volunteers are doing.  Please give us some advice.

Hi Peggy,

As long as you are behind the crowd lines there should not be a problem.   It is going to be a fun day!

Thanks, Steve.  We've got our 2010 Rock Your Wings t-shirts and caps on and can't wait to watch folks hit the dots at thegreatest show on earth! See you there.

Don't expect any mass arrivals today. They sent the N40 crew home again. Still not allowing grass operations on the N40.

Ron, bring you kayak, if only for the photo op of you on the "lake" on the 20-30th street area. There were ducks swimming on it last night.

Any word on what the parking situation will be tomorrow for cars?  I realize that camping and airplane parking is top priority, but I just wondered what to expect tomorrow for those of us driving to the event for the day.

From what I see reported, it will likely still be a mess up on the grounds tomorrow.

I'll see what the 5pm update shows, but I'll likely wave off a drive up tomorrow and shoot for Tuesday or later.

For those driving up for the day, it shouldn't be a problem.

Talked to one of the N40 crew who stayed behind, he said the chairmen are saying the grass might not be ready for planes until after the airshow, but it's definitely wait and see.

Does anyone know if Vintage camping is any better or worse (condition wise) than the north 40?

Thanks

If OSH has to close again on Monday, what about those of us with either ramp reservations or staying in a private hangar? Will we be turned away?

Might anyone know if the blue parking lot will be open tomorrow morning?

there were lots of cars parked in the blue lot even today.  we walked through it a couple of times on our way to someplace.  for the most part, the parking is not real bad...translated wet, soggy and/or muddy.  however, there are many lanes in low lying areas that were still very wet, and very soggy, and they had those areas marked off with bright orange cones. you can really tell that there was a LOT of rain up here.

I'm so glad that we decided not to wait.  Opening day was fantastic.

We parked in the Blue lot and it was just fine - not really muddy or anything.  You could tell it was a bit damp, but that's about it.

A couple of "after-action" items.

First, as always, I am amazed at how tidy the property is at the end of each day.  That speaks well for the visitors and the staff.

Second, I don't recall seeing anyone acting in an uncivil manner all week, even at Juneau, WI, where a whole bunch of us were trying to figure out how to tie down planes and get to KOSH on Sunday.

OK, now my third item is a bit of a complaint.  For the most part, those directing traffic were pretty good.  However, there were a few people that gave very ambiguous signals, and/or did not coordinate with their partners, and/or were watching the air show, not the traffic.  That really needs to be tightened up so someone doesn't get hurt.
