It's an awesome video! It is very exciting and the editing is great! I envy you for two reasons:

1.- you went to Airventure this year.

2.- You edited a great video (which I've tried myself and every time fail!)

Thank you for your time!

Regards,

Gonzalo

Jeff

Very nice job!  I have been waiting to see what you would put together this year.  I have a technical question.  What causes the flash of green color as airplanes depart the runway?  There was one very noticeable one in this year's video and last year had a flash of green on the departure of the Thunderbird F-16.

Thanks for picking good music and marrying it with excellent video.

Regards

Robert

That is the Green Dot that is painted on runway reflecting on the skin of the aircraft.

During Airventure each runway has several large colored dots painted on them. The controllers will have planes landing on the same runway simultaneously, but at different points (designated by the colored dots).  It's amazing to watch.

Jeff, this was great!  Like other staff members, I love to see the videos of all the things I missed.  I wish I could be in more places at the same time.

Nicely done Jeff.  Appreciate your efforts in putting the video together.  Thanks for posting.  As other EAA staff members have stated, we appreciate these videos because it gives us a chance to see the stuff we missed while working the convention.

Cheers!

Joe

Let me clear up a huge misunderstanding. I, Jeff, had nothing to do with this video. Oh I got to carry some equipment around while it wasn't being used, provide transportation, buy food, but nothing other than that.

This video was shot and edited by my son, Grant, who is in high school. He then posted the original message under my account rather than setting up his own. I can say he is extremely excited by the comments he has received on this forum and those he is receiving on YouTube and by email.

We've been flying up to Oshkosh together for the past 6 years and have been fortunate enough to stay the whole week the past 2 years. I'll always cherish this video.

Jeff

A big pat on the back to Grant!!  He's done wonderful work!  And a big pat on the back to you too Jeff for your encouragement and help that you've given Grant along the way.  Hope you both have many more enjoyable trips to AirVenture in the future.

And tell Grant to keep up the great work on the Videos!!

Joe

Let me tell you what I really like about this video.

First of all, I must preface this with the knowledge that I am not a huge fan of the so-called "music video" of this era we live in.  And especially when it comes to airplanes and air shows.   I would much prefer just listening to the "music" of the airplanes as they fly by or perform.  That is all the "music to my ears" that I really care about, perhaps aside from the comments from the announcers.  I don't greatly appreciate the loud music that is often played during performances, as it prevents me from hearing what I really want to hear, the music of the engines of the airplanes as they go by, and takes away from my overall experience.  I realize of course however, that music videos are extremely popular, and that perhaps I stand somewhat alone in this.

Having said all of that I want to further express, that what I think your son Grant has done here, is to have made a very nice blend of the background music of this video along with the aircraft noise, but done so without eliminating the aircraft sounds in the background.  Having edited his video as he has done, I find that there to be no detraction in the overall experience and enjoyment, at least for me.  In actuality, the timing of the video to fit into the music he has selected, seems to enhance the video in this case.  I never thought I would hear myself say that about a video with music, but I now have...LOL.

In addition to that, the editing of the video, is extremely well done, IMHO.  The timing of the shots to correlate with the music, the blend and mixture of shots from different directions and angles, as well as the diverse selection of events compiled, are all quite nicely done, I think.

The bottom line is, that I can truly enjoy this video to help me relive my Osh2010 experience throughout the year, and that's what it is really all about to me.

Thanks for a really nice job on your video.
