 Give us your ideas!

Got an original idea for a new t-shirt slogan or design for AirVenture 2011? We’d like to hear it. Now we’re not talking your run-of-the-mill “place the logo on the pocket” design idea here. We’re talking an out-of-the-ballpark t-shirt concept that will make every aviation enthusiast say, “I gotta have that!”

You don’t have to be an artist! While you’re welcome to submit pictures to help illustrate your idea, a simple text description is just fine. We’ll compile all ideas and have our professional designers flesh them out and turn it into a game-winning design. Who knows? Your idea could be the inspiration for the best-selling AirVenture 2011 t-shirt.

Submit your ideas by Friday, November 19th by replying to this post. All EAA members that submit an idea will be entered into a drawing for a $50 EAA Merchandise gift card, to be drawn during the week of November 22nd.

Note: by submitting your t-shirt design idea to EAA, you grant EAA a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, promote, sell and display your idea or concept in connection with EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

How about like the picture of a extra or something and then put osh on one wing? kosh on the other? and then right down the fuselage put 2011 sideways. I think that would be rather cool looking! I'd definitely buy one of those!!

The phrase "Your Aviation Enthusiasm" with red cross hairs over it. A fighter jet coming over head getting a missile lock on the phrase. The message could be "Have a lock on your aviation enthusiasm". EAA AirVenture in the upper left hand corner of the shirt and 2011 in the lower right hand corner of the shirt. The fighter jet could be a f-14 tomcat or an Apache helicopter.

I took the 2 pictures at Oshkosh 2010. Then  I merged them together.  Possibly changing the heading to "feel the heat" or" Feel the fire". I  designed this pictures in Aug. and posted it on the EAA FB page. I orginally designed for my Camera Club contest..

Hi,  I would like to see a t-shirt with the original EAA logo on the front of the shirt transition to the new EAA logo on the back, with a procession of homebuilt designs going under it.  Like the Pietenpol, Stits Flutterbug and Pitts Special than KR-1 and Vari-Eze to the RV-3, BD-5 and SX-300 to the hottest current designs. Kind of a parade of flight showing where we've been and where we are going to.  Just a thought.

This may not be 100 percent Oshkosh related but it think it would be a good saying on a t-shirt.

"Pilots don't need drugs to get high"  of course it would need a good oshkosh picture with it.

One of my favorite shirts from 2010 was a solid color shirt that had "EXPERIMENTAL" across the front.

My suggestion is for something similar with my favorite quote and current email signature. Now, I wish I could give credit to the originator of the quote but is was borrowed from a 4-wheel racer of some sort and I just modified it slightly. The quote is as follows:

Aviation:
For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Of course, "aviation" could be replaced with "Oshkosh" or something similar.

Blue Skies,

Robin

Picture this, a clear, blue sky,  a Harmon Rocket flying by, on top, curved letters saying "Airventure 2011" and curves letters on the bottom saying "Your ticket to Aviation.

My idea is:

A deep blue t-shirt with a graphic of an F/A 18 Hornet in the colors of the Blue Angels with the logo "100 Years of Naval Aviation" on the front of the shirt, and on the back "AirVenture Oshkosh 2011."

Just as you have the red shirt with "EXPERIMENTAL"  on it you should have it's companion shirt with "CERTIFIED" on it.  Subtle humor, I think.  We conventional plane types are just as plane crazy.

Steve;

If they make it, I'll buy one! Heck, I'd probably buy 2 so that when the first one wears out I'd have a spare. A shirt like that, where I work, would be priceless.

How about one that says "Oshkosh 2011" (image of your choice).

While you're at it, maybe discontinue the use of your copyrighted "Airventure" name. Also, maybe you could discontinue the practice that started 10 or 15 years ago of telling the vendors (who pay a LOT of money for the privilege of selling their wares) that they can't sell shirts, caps etc that mention the flyin.

Perhaps these policies have been discontinued; I haven't attended in quite a few years, partly due to the issues I mentioned above.

Walking around AirVenture 2009 I thought of a cool shirt and my friends agreed.  It would have, "yEAAh!" written on the shirt.  It was so simple and meant what I was truly feeling at the show.

How about an image of Younkins Beech 18 in a big smoky roll (or the Franklins stearman with wing walker) with the phrase "I love the smell of smoke oil in the afternoon"

How about this for the t-shirt

CATAPULTING INTO THE FUTURE 1911 - 2011

with a picture of the first flight off a ship in black & white fading into a FA18 flying away in afterburner  in full color

NOSE ART-NOSE ART-NOSE ART, yes nose-art.  What happened to the good old days when we had a different nose-art tee every year.  I have not purchased a shirt since they ended.  On many occasions I've written EAA including Tom and received thoughtful prompt responses.  I've written 3 times regarding the missing nose-art tees with no response.  What gives...  I wish continued success to my EAA.

My Dad shared this contest with me, he's an EAA member and took me to Oshkosh when I was younger. So I thought I would take a stab at this.

At the top of the shirt, chest level is a quote:

"For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return."        -Leonardo Da Vinci

Then underneath the quote, at stomach level is Da Vinci in full WWI Fighter Pilot garb. Leather Jacket, leather helmet with goggles, a silk scarf streaming behind him and a confident grin plastered on his face. We recognize its him because he has a long beard and is leaning against a complex looking gyrocopter (like the ones he would draw and design). A very cartoonish design.

Maybe on the sleeve or something it says:

AirVenture 2011

100 years of flight

500 years of dreams
