Does anybody know where I can find out the regulations if I would like to build my own aircraft in Spain? Is it legal and how would I do it? I am moving to Spain and I would like to build my airplane when I get there.

Roberto,

Try e-mailing Jose Morante, enginesevo@yahoo.es.  He posted back about a year ago on Van's Air Force and was building an RV-8.  Not sure if he still is or if the e-mail addess is current, but it's worth a shot.

Another RV-8 builder is Javier Del Cid who posted on VAF :  javierdelcid@yahoo.es.   Again no idea if the address is current.

Hi Roberto

I have just built a Mosquito helicopter in Spain so, yes it is possible.  There is anEAA chapter 899 and if you read/speak Spanish you will get some help there.  However, for the rules and regs you need to go to the Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aerea website linked here:

http://www.seguridadaerea.es/AESA/LANG_CASTELLANO/AERONAVES/CERTIFICACION/CONSTRUCCION/

There are delegations of this Flight safety org throughout Spain so after initial approval in Madrid you will need to contact them locally for your build to be locally approved,  inspected and so on. I have found the system slow but individually the Inspectors I have met have been friendly and helpful.

Hope this is of some help.  If I can help more directly please contact me privately at stuartrogers(at)terra.es.

Saludos

 Stuart
