Soon I will complete the purchase of an aircraft.  I know the 8050-2 FAA form is the Bill of Sale.... not a problem.

What form is used to get the registration out of the previous owners name and into my name ??

Is it the 8050-1A...  Aircraft Re-Registration Application  ??

Thanks !!

I believe what you are looking for is AC Form 8050-1 (not 8050-1A).  This for can be easily obtained from your local FSDO or by contacting the aircraft registration branch at.  The contact information can be found at this site:

http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/aircraft_certification/aircraft_registry/contact_aircraft_certification/

Lots of people have these carbon forms laying around, so your local mechanic or someone may already have one you can have.

Also, a word of caution, the FAA is really cracking down on the the whole thing where you MUST print your name in the same box you sign in.  I don't know why this is such a big deal with them since you are generally printing your name at the top of the form anyway, but they do require it.  I know of lots of people (me included) that had to ping-pong with them a couple of times to get it straight.  And if you mess up, your paperwork goes to the back of the line.  (Note that all of my information is from last august, so not too long ago).
