leaking fuel senders

I have been flying my long ez for the last 14 years without a fuel pressure gauge. I heard horror stories of leaking fuel pressure senders. I decided to just change out the engine driven and aux fuel pump every 2 years.

I finally decided to put in an electric fuel pressure gauge with a brand new  SW sender and guess what, it would not hold pressure and started leaking after a pressure test. Now I am undecided on putting the system in. Just because it does not leak in the beginning,it  could start anytime.

Now I think every builder should  have in the back of his or her mind every possible emergency in flight and fuel leaks and a fire in flight should be at the top. This is why I plumed in a fire suppression system in my plane. Perhaps everyone reading this should consider it. It is a small weight penalty and adds a layer of safety.
