This is a little airplane that Col Bill Jackson built for his kids while stationed at McCord...instead of the regular gocart...
He had been my dads CO at Elmendorf while the 94's were there...Dad ran into him at McCord when renewing his weapons card and was invited to dinner and introduced to it that night while killing a horn of corn...
Well later Bill transferred out and the little airplane was left ,we assume temporarily with a Col. in maintanance at McCord... After that the 321st Int Sqn was temporarily deployed there while the runways at Paine were being extended and hardened Col. Patton and my father had a little conversation and history briefing as the Sqn was being parked and they saw it for the first time ... Patton , the CO of the Sqn in a breifing alluded or anounced that ( being they had seen it ) it would sure be nice if they could somehow get it to Paine...as it would make a nice trophy for the Squadron and the base
Well in typical Blacksheep fashion...it was appropriated by a Lt Ed Cleary...who had lept up in the briefing and volunteered C flight...and it ended up that Friday on a truck with some engines going back to Paine , where it was before anyone else knew it was missing...
It became the mascot of the 321st and was the object of many other dastardly exploits by many of the other bases around the country...and eventually had to be kept in the Alert Hanger and used only on special occations...
Does anyone know the whereabouts of then Col. Bill Jackson or anyone that might have any history of this little jewel...
Pierre d'Entremont......I am standing....Ron my brother is about to "prop clear"....
