I am looking for a company that makes 'gas guns' for film work and historical reenactments. These aren't the 'Airsoft' type but LPG fed that make the flash and retort you would expect of large calibre machine guns and canons. They don't fire any projectiles but they sound convincing.

I know that the Tora Tora Tora aircraft had them fitted and a Bf108 did as well, but they were made some time ago. Does anyone know if you can still get them?

Alternatively, I remember reading a Kitplanes article on making your own. Does anyone know what issue the article was in?  I don't think I'll put one in my Nieuport but I work for an engineering company that could fabricate them if need be. I need to replicate .50 cal, 30mm and 105mm guns. They are for a commercial job and won't be going on aircraft
sad

Sorry for posting on an aviation thread but I thought the members here would have some good advice!

There are a few places on the internet you could check out:

IRAC (international Replica Arms Co.) - http://www.iracinc.com/

Bismarck Guns & Artillery -  http://www.bismarckguns.com/

1st Armory Machinegun Simulators - http://www.1starmory.com/index.html

Int'l Repo-Depo - http://www.intlrepo-depo.com/simulators_1.htm

And then there is Steve L. Smith.  This guy comes highly recommended by one of my buddies who used one of his 37mm kits in his 37mm repro gun.  http://www.ww2steel.com/Gasguns/Gasguns.html

 That should get you started...

I can personally vouch for Steve Smith.  His system is about as near to perfect as you can get.  I know of a few people that own his gas guns, and every one of them is perfectly satisfied.
