I am interested in building or restoring a Davis D1 airplane. I have found a project, but it has no wing hardware or drawings. Anyone have any Davis information they would be willing to share? I know they have stamped aluminum ribs, but I need drawings or patterns. Any help would be appreciated.

Contact Chapter 166 in Hartford, CT. They used to have a Davis as a club plane. I used to belong there many years ago.
Joe ? is their DAR and I believe he had a hand in building it. I always admired the Davis for its efficiency on a Cont. 65.

You might be thinking of Joe Gauthier.
The Davis D-1 used a Clark Y airfoil, pretty common for that era. Should be easy enough to make some form blocks and roll your own.

Hello Ryan, I work with someone who has a davis in parts, if you send me your email address and phone, I can have him contact you. Good luck with your Davis!

My A&P (and IA) and I acquired a Davis D1 along with a Piper Cub and a hanger. We are probably 60 days away from completing the restoration of the Cub. Then we will take on the Davis. We have talked to numerous people about the Davis and know of several owners. We are torn over whether to restore the Davis or to put it on the makret. We do have some drawings, and have reserached and found others who have some. Let me know if you would like to visit.

Not to lead you too far off here, but there are several Yahoo groups for Davis aircraft.
There may be more groups than that, but those may be worth a look.
