Does anyone know where I can get hold of the drawings for the official modifications to Chipmunk wings to allow baggage storage in the wings.

We do not appear to have a copy here in England.  We have been told that a Canadian outfit may have them.

Can anyone  help.

Thanks.

Carol

(P.S.  I am organising Chipmunks to Oshkosh 2010. Contact me for more info.)

Hi,

I sent this link to my friend Bob (a Chippie owner) and here's what he said.

Try DeHavilland Support at Duxford. They will probably have the drawings. I’d be surprised if the new type certificate holders in Vancouver would have any Chipmunk stuff. They are more focused on the Beaver, Otter and Twotter.

The modification doesn’t change any of the ribs, but basically is a new door on the top of each wing and a plywood floor at the bottom of the bays selected for the locker. It creates 2-3 very narrow bays.

I look forward to a ton of Chippies in Oshkosh this summer!!!

Hi Al

If 'ChipmunkBob' is from England, then there is a good chance he is my neighbour and a good friend.

I understand that de Havilland Support has already been contacted and they do not have the drawings.

Sigh!

See you in five  months!

Carol
