I am looking at a couple of quicksilver MX's on is a MXL with the two sided wind an full span ail. the othe is the old style MX. my question is can 2 sided sails be put on an old style wing? also, can Ail's be added to the existing MX wings, or would it require a new set of wings. I am capable of doing some advanced mech eng/work to do rthis if it is possible. also, what is the life span on a set of QS sails if it has been stored inside? if two sided sails are not an option, can a set of qualifier sails be used to improve performance?

Bobby, I flew an MX for five or six years back in the 90`s. If you want the two sided wing with the ailerions, just buy the MXL right from the start. I think a retrofit to an MX would be quite a project, if it can even be done. If hangered and taken care of, the sails will last for many years. I put qualifier sales on my MX and really didn`t see much difference from the standard sails.

A neat conversion a friend of mine built was a "Quick Fix". Basically, an MX airframe with a set of Challenger wings. The  pedals are connected to the rudder and the stick controls the elevator and ailerons- just like a real airplane. We discovered in testing that with the higher landing speeds a steerable nosewheel is very desirable.
