I've got a Quicksilver MXL ll on full lotus floats.  I would appreciate any photos or advice on construction of amphib gear.  I've seen several types and spoken to many about this but come to the conclusion I should build my own.  If anyone has photos of the (Trike gear) nose wheel lift assembly this would be helpful.  Thx all,.....Ray

Hi Raymond,

My friend Earl Downs (frequent author in EAA publications) is flying a Quicksilver - not on floats, however. Together we are building a computer model for the X-Plane simulator. It would be an easy extension of the project to add a float model. If you have any interest in this, just drop me a line at   chuckbodeen@earthlink.net

X-Plane sells for just $29.   www.x-plane.com

I use the Vista retract system on a Sprint II.  I have 300 hrs on the Full Lotus but often park on shore, so I wanted to remove the gear quickly.  I separated the main gear and nose retract  interconnect and retract the mains and nose separately.

The Vista system seem pretty straigtforward for the mains. I'm going to copy the system on a pair of the new single place Lotus I just ordered for a single place MX.

I'll try to get some photos of the nose setup.  [My aircraft is apart right now for a recover.]

Thx again for the help.  To much rain to fly today in CA.

Thx for the reply Stuart!  The gear looks great!  Is it something I could build myself or do you market a kit?............Ray

Hey Chuck,

Good to hear from you.  Quicksilvers on floats are pretty common out there.  The "fun factor" is another leap fwd.  Not sure how I can help but whatever you need to help expose water flyin for the super experience it is, I'm in!!
