Dana,

Later this year I'm planning to start on a VP-1. Plans are bought and the shop is near ready; that's two of the thousand or so steps done. Part of the education process also includes building a 1/4 scale Cub that's been NIB for the last twelve years.

I'm building a VP-2, very straight forward so far, I'm sure you''ll enjoy the process.  Be sure to join the Yahoo group if you have not already done so.  It's very active and informative.

Martin,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, joining the yahoo group is a good idea. I also joined chapter 569 in Lincoln,NE.

The appeal of the VP is the solid engineering and simplicity. It will be the first airplane I build.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know what i'm up to. Here is my first completed part for my Volmer Jensen VJ-22 Amphibian. The first of 32 ribs. It took four months to build the first rib but now i should be able to bang out more than one a week.

Here's a picture of me holding my pride and joy. What can i say, i'm easy to amuse.

I'm using KitPro log to document it and just love it. Just wish i could add more than three picture per log entry.

Darrell

I can't seem to edit my post or post a picture. I'll try this again. Here goes.

Looks good Darrell.  Are you building a wood copy of a Champ wing??

Yes, i'm using the plans drawn by Volmer when the Champ wings began to be hard to find and the prices climbed. The only change is it will have metal spars instead of wood. I guess you could say it is a reverse copy of the original Champ wing that had metal ribs and a wood spar.

I built the rib jig from the design on the WeeBeastie website.

I'm almost finished rebuilding a Mazda 20B for my project. Just recently received Tracy Crooks engine computer and getting ready to order wiring harnesses and put together a mock up of the exhaust headers. I replaced all the rotor seals/springs/bearings as well as the main bearings. Installed new water pump, alternator, oil pump and chain. It will be turbocharged with a single 76mm turbo with external waste gate. I'm expecting at least 400 SHP at 6500 RPM.

I'm building a Kitfox Classic IV Speedster that I purchased as a partiallly completed kit. I covered and painted it with the Stewart System,  which worked very well for me as I did it in my garage. I installed a Rotec R2800 radial and just conducted the first start up a few weeks ago. It's ready to go to the airport here in a few weeks, and hopefully I can get it airborne in the not too distant future.

I've finally started on an Ultimate 10-200.  Just about done cutting all of the wooden parts for the wing ribs.

Rick, that Jaguar is a beautiful aircraft.  Do you have a set of orginal plans also?  That would be a great aircraft to see put back into kit production or available as plans.

I'm building  Zenith CH-640, to be powered by a P-port Mazda 13b. Just got back to work, as the economic crisis really put a damper on things.

The financial constraints have kind of forced the project to jump form here to there rather than flow in an orderly process. I aquired bits as finances alowed. While saving for the wings kit, I started accumulating engine parts.

Here is a picture of what the engine installation will look like.

I am a member of EAA Chapter 10 in Owasso, Oklahoma and I'm working on a Pietenpol Air Camper.  I started my project in March 2009 and I am nearing completion on my wings.  I hope to finish up my center section in the coming weeks and get started on my empannage.  It's been a lot of fun so far... a great learning experience.

I'm building a full-scale Bristol F.2b Fighter. You can follow my progress on Photobucket at http://s871.photobucket.com/albums/ab272/TSJohnson66226/Bristol%20Fighter%20Build/

She's a very large airplane with 39' 3" span, 29' 6" length. D.H. Gypsy Queen 70 Mk3 for power swinging a 9' diameter prop. I designed the airplane over several years and created a full set of CAD drawings for the project. Departed from the original design by employing all aluminum construction.

Rolls-Royce Aerospace built a static replica based on my plans for display in their museum at Filton in Bristol, UK. Site of the original Bristol and Colonial Aeroplane Company. The replica will be displayed at Farnborough this year.

You can visit my website at http://www.GreatWarReplicaAircraft.com or contact me at gwra@att.net for more information.

Chocks away!

I'm fairly early on into building a Van's RV-6. That's what brought me to the EAA. I'm blogging about the experience at Building an RV-6 .

My wife and I are seriously considering purchasing a Starduster Too that needs minimal build to finish...has only 4 hours on the plane and a Franklin engine. It needs a prop, a carburetor, some paint, and assembly. We are on a really tight budget as this is our first plane and we know crap about what we are doing. We rebuilt a 1980 KZ750 motorcycle and we've been told this should be fairly easy comparatively, but we are a bit nervous. Anyone out there got some encouragement and advice?

Timothy,

No advice to offer but best wishes and be sure to post up when you start in on it! The Starduster Toos are great looking planes.
